Well, that’s a little over 24 hours since we unceremoniously piled our bikes onto the back of the hire car, reversed down our drive and headed south.
After a quick stop off in the North East of England to visit family, we hammered on down the A1(M) for a late evening pizza and an overnight stop-over in Letchworth Garden City with our pal Mr Kevin Bacon. No, not that one… but a much younger, talented and good-looking one!!
Following a 50 mile morning drive through London traffic, at a speed that even Deborah would have been ashamed to cycle at, we finally made it to rental car returns with 3 minutes to spare on our hire.
Our bikes have just disappear down the oversized luggage belt of Heathrow T5, so we can now only hope they are spewed at the other end in the same shape they went in. The theory of packing bikes in a plastic bag to allowed the luggage handlers to see them, and therefore be more careful, is about to be put to the test. If the theory is proven wrong this may turn out to be a very short trip…
Its now three hours before our flight, so time to chill… next stop Chicago O’Hare! 🤪
SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE POND! 🏴🏴🇺🇸
