It’s weird not getting up, packing our panniers and heading west, but are coping. Just!
A lazy morning, although most of it finishing off the blogs from the last two days. We then headed up to the main Shamrock attraction, just at the top of our street, the U-Drop Inn, where we had a lovely time chatting with Patsy, one the amazing volunteers that support this iconic building.
With a map from Patsy, we headed into the town centre to check out the other attractions that Shamrock has to offer.
It’s clear that Shamrock’s heydays are long over, with many shops closed, but it also seems a community is still surviving in this remote part of rural Texas.
Next stop was the Pioneer West Museum where we met Betsy and Von Anne, two volunteers that look after this fascinating museum in which is housed Shamrock’s very own Blarney Stone, all the way from Castle Blarney in Ireland apparently… arriving in an armoured truck!
From there we wander around the town, taking a heap of more photos, so I’m going to allow the photos to speak for themselves and chill for what’s left of the day, as we have no idea when we will get another day out of the saddle. Enjoy
Fun pictures and blog updates. Thanks!
Thanks John
So glad you guys took a rest day, but sorry that you’ve been having to survive without brain freezing drinks! Hope the weather keeps getting a little cooler and that the wind starts helping more.
Keep the updates coming when you have the time – they are fun to read.
I burned my tonge on a hot chocolate on Sunday, but I think we will be back to brain freezers today. In fact I’m told it will drop to 32oF on Thursday night so may be body freezers too.
How is Rawanda?
