While the cycling is going well, with a few expected and unexpected challenges, the electronics we brought to remain online, take videos and photos, and share our journey through blogs and vlogs are proving more of a challenge than the pedalling.
With little sunshine since leaving Scotland, we can keep only our navigation and phones charged with our dyno hubs, but our laptops and a couple of the cameras are unused due to not using the solar panel. Our Apple MacBooks are already not enjoying the weather, so carrying them through the environments we will likely encounter may prove an expensive error.
When we cycled Route 66, we relied mainly on our Samsung phones for video, photos and writing blogs, which worked great, allowing us to update the website daily, almost without fail.
As a result of our challenges with technology over the past, distracting us from the journey, we are rethinking our strategy for keeping the website updated and will change things around when we reach Prague and take a few days off the saddle to celebrate Deborah’s 50th birthday.
We have some long days ahead to make it to Prague in time, so bear with us over that period. Once we leave Prague on or around April 25th, we no longer have a schedule, so things will settle down, becoming more relaxed with much more time to scribble down the memoirs of our journey.
Sun will come out Monday and you’ll get a chance to try the solar panels out.
Not finding the time at the moment… Hopefully we will catch up when we take a break in Prague. Stay tuned!!
